The Nine-Tailed Fox
In Japanese folklore the fox — kitsune — grows wiser with age, and the oldest and most powerful wear nine tails. White foxes are held to be the sacred messengers of Inari. This series draws that spirit in ink and fine line: a white nine-tailed fox at rest, in motion, and beneath the moon, its tails dissolving into mist and empty paper. Drawn from the spirit of sumi-e, made to order on archival matte paper.
