A handful of fireflies drift like sparks of warm gold over the deep indigo of a summer night, the reeds below dissolving into the dark. Here and gone — a light that only lasts a season. Drawn in deep indigo ink, in the spirit of classical Japanese sumi-e, with soft washes and generous empty space. This is mono no aware — the gentle awareness that a thing is beautiful because it does not stay. A quiet piece for the calm end of the day.
