The Stillness

Every Yugen piece is a digital design inspired by sumi-e ink painting, developed with the help of digital and AI tools and finished in the studio. Each one is a print, not a hand-painted original, made to order by JONDO, our print partner, including for UK and EU orders.

8x12 is printed on Fine Art paper only.

A solitary figure sits in quiet contemplation beneath a gnarled plum tree, its branches reaching across mist and water. Drawn in the spirit of sumi-e and rendered in sepia and charcoal ink tones, this piece honours seijaku — the aesthetic principle of stillness and tranquility at the heart of Zen practice. Vast emptiness holds as much presence as the drawn form, inviting you to pause and sit alongside the figure in a moment suspended outside time.
