Beneath the Falling Petals

Every Yugen piece is a digital design inspired by sumi-e ink painting, developed with the help of digital and AI tools and finished in the studio. Each one is a print, not a hand-painted original, made to order by JONDO, our print partner, including for UK and EU orders.

8x12 is printed on Fine Art paper only.

A solitary figure stands beneath a gnarled branch bearing delicate blossoms, petals drifting through the mist. Drawn in the spirit of sumi-e, this ink piece embodies yūgen—the profound mystery that lies beneath surface appearance. The figure is small against the vast emptiness, held in the presence of the flowering branch above, a moment suspended between bloom and falling, silence and breath. The negative space allows the eye to rest and the mind to wander, while the transient petals whisper of beauty found in impermanence.
