The Ronin's Moon sumi-e print in a black frame above a bed with gray linen bedding

The story behind the print

“Paused on his road, just to watch the moon rise.”

A lone ronin in a straw hat stands on a grassy bank while an amber moon hangs low over the water. Below him, black ink breaks across the river like a ragged shoreline. A ronin was a samurai with no master, and this one seems to have paused on his road just to watch the moon rise.

Black sumi ink and an amber moon on warm parchment, with the grain of the wash left in. It brings warmth to a pale wall and sits well with oak, linen and clay.
