A white fox sits, head turned, and from the air around it drifts a pale, rose-toned flame — kitsunebi, foxfire, the ghostly light the spirit-fox is said to carry through the dark. Drawn in raw black ink and fine line on warm cream paper, in the spirit of classical Japanese sumi-e, with a single soft flame in muted rose and nine flowing tails. This is mono no aware — the tender awareness of things that flicker and pass. The flame is the one warm note in a world of ink and cream, and like all fire, already on its way to going out. That fleetingness is what makes it beautiful.

THE PHILOSOPHY
This piece is rooted in three intersecting Japanese principles:

- Wabi-sabi (侘寂) — finding beauty in imperfection and impermanence
Each print is designed not as decoration, but as a small invitation to pause.
