Three strands of wisteria hang inside a ring, their blossoms falling in heavy clusters. This is sagari-fuji, the hanging wisteria crest (kamon). In Japan it is the crest of the Fujiwara clan and of Kasuga Taisha shrine in Nara, and wisteria crests carry a sense of elegance.

This print shows it in solid black on cream paper, with each bloom cut clean against the background. The falling lines give a wall gentle movement, and it suits a calm bedroom or a quiet hallway.
