How it's made

Every Yugen piece is a digital design inspired by sumi-e ink painting, developed with the help of digital and AI tools and finished in the studio. Each one is a print, not a hand-painted original, made to order by JONDO, our print partner, including for UK and EU orders.

About this print

Seen from above, a round ceramic plate holds a dark pool of ink, and gold cracks spread out from its centre like a mended break. Kintsugi (金継ぎ, 'golden joinery') is the Japanese craft of mending broken pottery with lacquer and gold, so the repair becomes part of the object's story rather than something to hide.

Ivory, grey, ink and gold on a warm cream ground, printed on your choice of Matte or Fine Art (archival) paper. The square shape works well in a grid or on a shelf.
