How it's made
Every Yugen piece is a digital design inspired by sumi-e ink painting, developed with the help of digital and AI tools and finished in the studio. Each one is a print, not a hand-painted original, made to order by JONDO, our print partner, including for UK and EU orders.
About this print
A dark, twisting plum branch reaches across the page, its bark split and mended with gold and small golden blossoms opening along it. Plum, ume (梅), flowers in late winter, so it stands for resilience. Kintsugi (金継ぎ, 'golden joinery') is the Japanese craft of mending broken pottery with lacquer and gold, so the repair becomes part of the object's story rather than something to hide.
Ink black and gold on a warm parchment ground, printed on your choice of Matte or Fine Art (archival) paper. The wide shape suits a long wall above a sofa, bed or sideboard.
