How it's made

Every Yugen piece is a digital design inspired by sumi-e ink painting, developed with the help of digital and AI tools and finished in the studio. Each one is a print, not a hand-painted original, made to order by JONDO, our print partner, including for UK and EU orders.

About this print

A tall stalk of dark bamboo rises up the page, its leaves flicking out to the side. Fine seams of gold run along the joints, as if the stalk had once split and been mended. Kintsugi (金継ぎ, 'golden joinery') is the Japanese craft of mending broken pottery with lacquer and gold, so the repair becomes part of the object's story rather than something to hide.

Ink black and gold on a warm parchment ground, printed on your choice of Matte or Fine Art (archival) paper. The tall, simple shape suits a narrow wall.
