How it's made
Every Yugen piece is a digital design inspired by sumi-e ink painting, developed with the help of digital and AI tools and finished in the studio. Each one is a print, not a hand-painted original, made to order by JONDO, our print partner, including for UK and EU orders.
About this print
A red-crowned crane, tancho (丹頂), steps forward with its wings thrown wide, black flight feathers splashing ink across the page. Gold runs through the white wing like a mended crack. In Japan the crane stands for long life and good fortune. Kintsugi (金継ぎ, 'golden joinery') is the Japanese craft of mending broken pottery with lacquer and gold, so the repair becomes part of the object's story rather than something to hide.
Black, ivory and gold with the crane's small red crown, on a warm sand ground, printed on your choice of Matte or Fine Art (archival) paper.
