Stillness

Every Yugen piece is a digital design inspired by sumi-e ink painting, developed with the help of digital and AI tools and finished in the studio. Each one is a print, not a hand-painted original, made to order by JONDO, our print partner, including for UK and EU orders.

8x12 is printed on Fine Art paper only.

A figure sits at the edge of still water, looking out, while the mist quietly takes the rest of the world away. Nothing is happening — and that is exactly the point. Rendered in soft ink wash on warm cream paper, in the spirit of classical Japanese sumi-e, with wide quiet space held around the single figure. This is seijaku: not empty silence, but the deep, settled calm that arrives when everything stops asking for your attention. For a room where you want to breathe slower.

THE PHILOSOPHY

This piece is rooted in three intersecting Japanese principles:

Each print is designed not as decoration, but as a small invitation to pause.
