Tall reeds stand against a low full moon, their slender shapes doubled in the still water where the moonlight pools. A marsh at the end of the day, holding its breath. Drawn in deep indigo ink, in the spirit of classical Japanese sumi-e, with quiet open space. This is yohaku-no-bi — the beauty of the unpainted: the open dark is not background but a chosen, weighted presence that gives the reeds room simply to be.
