Moon on Water

Every Yugen piece is a digital design inspired by sumi-e ink painting, developed with the help of digital and AI tools and finished in the studio. Each one is a print, not a hand-painted original, made to order by JONDO, our print partner, including for UK and EU orders.

8x12 is printed on Fine Art paper only.

A full moon hangs over still, dark water and lays a trembling path of pale light across the surface. Reach for the moon on the water and your hand comes back empty — it was only ever light. Drawn in deep indigo ink, in the spirit of classical Japanese sumi-e, with wide quiet space around the moon. This is yūgen — the awareness of a depth beyond words, sensed and never seized. A grounding piece for a wall that wants to settle.

THE PHILOSOPHY

This piece is rooted in three intersecting Japanese principles:

Each print is designed not as decoration, but as a small invitation to pause.
