A single pufferfish drifts across quiet cream paper, its spines drawn in soft grey ink and its round body held still and wary; part of the Fugu Series and drawn in the spirit of sumi-e, this piece takes a fish long admired in Japan for both its danger and its delicacy and sets it alone on the page, ink spreading and thinning the way old ink drawings let the paper breathe, a quiet fit for a study, hallway, or reading nook where its detail can be noticed slowly.
